Women's Tennis Drops Tight Match with Vikings, Swept by Saints

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.-- Women's Tennis hosted Bethany Lutheran College and The College of St. Scholastica for a double-header in conference action on Saturday night. After a narrow 5-4 loss to Bethany Lutheran the Rams were swept 9-0 by St. Scholastica.

North Central trailed 2-1 after doubles action against Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) after juniors Hope Carlson (Chippewa Falls, Wis./Lake Holcombe) and Sarah Trickey (Waseca, Minn./Waseca) took the third slot 8-2. Freshman Allegra Edwards (Roseville, Minn./Minesota Virtual Academy) got her first college victory in singles action with come from behind 1-6, 7-5 (10-8) win in the second slot. Hope Carlson grabbed her second point of the year with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the fourth slot. Lauren Cox (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) also got her first college singles win with a 6-0, 6-1 decision in the sixth slot.

After their tough loss to the Vikings the Rams were swept 9-0 by the College of St. Scholastica (Duluth, Minn.). The loss completed the Saints season sweep of the Rams.

North Central will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Owatonna Tennis & Fitness Center (Owatonna, Minn.) for a triangular match. NCU will take on Midland University (Fremont, Neb.) at 2 p.m. before a rematch with Bethany Lutheran at 5 p.m.
