Box Score

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- North Central Baseball was in action at The University of Northwestern on Tuesday night. The Rams battled the Eagles all night but could not get their offense going and suffered at 7-0 loss in nine innings at Reynolds Field.

North Central (2-6, 0-4 UMAC) took the short trip to St. Paul to take on The University of Northwestern on Tuesday night at their newly built Reynolds Field facilities. The Rams and Eagles were scoreless through an inning before UNW posted a decisive five runs in their part of the second frame. The Eagles scored their runs with three hits, three stolen bases and a pair of Rams errors compounded by two walks that added extra base runners.

Both teams were scoreless in the third before the Eagles added another run in the bottom of the fourth and it was 6-0 after a scoreless fifth frame. UNW posted another run in the bottom of the sixth and it remained 7-0 coing into the the ninth inning.

Sophomore Matt Juve (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) singled to lead off the Rams final at bat but was out on a fielder's choice on the next plate appearance. A stikeout and ground out ended the Rams threat and completed the Eagles victory.

Freshman Jordan Fair (Boyne City, Mich./Boyne City) was competitive in his first start in UMAC play, rebounding to be solid after his second inning struggles. He went seven innings giving up seven earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts. Outside the fifth inning Fair scattered two earned runs over five hits with three walks issued. Unfortunately the Rams managed just two hits in the contest had just sent just four batters over the mininum to the plate over their nine at-bats.

The Rams continue conference play on the road this weekend with a three game series at Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) Friday the Rams and Vikings are set for a 3 p.m. first pitch before their Saturday double-header that is scheduled for a Noon start time.
