Northwestern Shuts Down Rams

Minneapolis, Minn.-- The North Central University Women's Soccer team continued Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play Tuesday night as they took on the Eagles of the University of Northwestern- Saint Paul.

The Rams (1-4, 0-2) were heavily out shot in the match as Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.) fired 22 shots including nine shots on goal against the NCU goal keeper Heather Campbell (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd, Minn.). Campbell was up to the challenge for most of the night, but Jordan Skarin was able to find the net in the 13th minute for the lone goal of the game as North Central lost 1-0.

North Central had only six shots on the night and three shots on goal. All three of those shots came off the foot of sophomore Dakatoh Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-St. Mary (U of Ark-Little Rock)) who has now been held scoreless over the past three games after scoring six goals in the first two matches of the season.

NCU had two strong attacks late in the game; first in the 79th minute senior Karlee Hoover (Estero, Fla. / Estero) had a shot deflected off of a corner kick from Sparrman. And then in the 86th minute, Sparrman fired a shot from just outside the box that was saved by the Northwestern keeper, Josie Monson.

North Central continues action this Friday as they host Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) at Elliot Park Field in Minneapolis, Minn. First kick begins at 4:15 p.m.
