Box Score Minneapolis, Minn.-- The North Central University Men's Soccer team continued conference play Tuesday evening as they took on the Eagles of the University of Northwestern- Saint Paul.
The Rams (0-4, 0-2) were out shot 11-6 and struggled to create any strong scoring opportunities against Northwestern (Saint Paul, Minn.) as they dropped the match by a score of 2-0.
The Eagles (2-3, 2-0) struck early as Matthew McCann put one past junior goal keeper Andrew Eliason (Ypsilanti, Mich./Milan) in the ninth minute of the game. As play continued, each team shared similar time of possession but the score remained 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
Northwestern was able to add another goal early in the second half as Mateusz Gralinski scored on a give-and-go in the 48th minute.
NCU was able to put a shot on net in the 57th minute as sophomore Ian Brekhus (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) was stopped by Eagles keeper Turner Main. Then the Rams had two more scoring chances that sailed high off the boots of Joe Kornbaum (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls) and junior Ryan Windauer (Polson, Mont./MVCA).
North Central was able to generate two shots on goal and four corner kicks in the match, but were unable to take advantage of these opportunities and set-pieces.
The Rams continue play this Friday as they host Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) at Elliot Park Field in Minneapolis, Minn. Kick-off starts at 2 p.m.
