MANKATO, Minn.-- Rams Volleyball took two of their three weekend matches in a triangular hosted by Bethany Lutheran College on Friday and Saturday. Saturday the Rams fell to Northland College before defeating the host Vikings on their home floor.

After taking an exciting five-set win over Crown College (St. Bonifacius, Minn.) on Friday night, the Rams responded by jumping out 1-0 on Northland College (Ashland, Wis.) with a 25-17 first set win in Saturday's opener. Unfortunately the Rams offense struggled to just a .031 attack percentage with just nine kills against eight errors in a 25-16 loss in the second frame.

In the third the Rams led 9-8 and were tied at 13 before the Lumberjills created enough offense to take a 25-19 victory. North Central once again fell apart at the net in the decisive fourth set, with 13 errors to just 9 kills (-.095 AP) in a 25-15 loss.

Junior Karlee Huber (Rapid City, S.D./Dakota Wesleyan) led all players with 13 kills on 40 swings and equaled a team high 16 digs. Sophomore Ashley Kelzer (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) added 11 kills on 30 attacks while junior Elissa Pheneger (Roseville, Minn./Concordia Academy) posted 32 assist and 16 digs.

In the final match of the weekend North Central responded to a poor performance by jumping out 1-0 on Bethany Lutheran with a 25-16 first set win. The Vikings looked like they had grabbed back control with a 25-8 victory in the second set by hitting .444 while the Rams mustered just 2 kills in the frame.

The third set was tightly contested and stood 17-17 before the Rams were able to get in front for good to take a 25-22 win. In what proved the deciding fourth set, both teams used several runs to keep it tight before NCU took the 25-20 win and 3-1 match victory.

Karlee Huber was once again the top player for NCU in attack with 10 kills. Senior Whitney Reames (Vassar, Mich./Vassar) posted a team high 11 digs and Elissa Pheneger posted 13 assists.

Exactly one week after their last meeting, Rams will take on Crown College again next week in St. Bonifacius. The Rams and Storm are scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip off on Friday.
