Box Score DULUTH, Minn.-- Rams Men's Soccer suffered a painful loss in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play in Duluth on Saturday. The host College of St. Scholastica scored four times in the first six minutes and there was no recovery in sight for North Central the rest of the way in an 11-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning league champs.
North Central (1-7, 1-4 UMAC) conceeded goals in the third, fifth, six and seventh minute of the match and it was never in doubt the rest of the way on Saturday in Duluth. St. Scholastica added two more goals before the break to lead 6-0 at halftime.
The hosts went right back to work scoring in the 46th minute and adding four more tallies over the remaining 44 minutes of the game to reaffirm their victory. Freshman Gabe Hartwig (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) took the loss in his first career start making 9 saves but faced 20 on frame. North Central recorded just three shots, two going on net.
North Central will look to recover before a trip to Canada next weekend for NCCAA regional play. The Rams will take on 2014 region champion Providence University-College (Otterburne, Manitoba) at 3:15 p.m. on Friday before taking on Canadian Mennonite University (Winnipeg, Manitoba) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
