Rams Fall To Storm

MINNEAPOLIS – North Central women's soccer lost to Crown College on Tuesday afternoon in Elliot Park, 1-0. The Rams outshot the Storm 16-6 but fell to the Storm on a defensive breakdown in the second half and final third of the field.

In the first half the Rams had 10 opportunities on frame with help from Emma Brekhus (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) who returned to the Rams lineup after a month away with injuries. The offense of the Rams worked to move the ball up the right hand side of the field for crosses and shots then coming from the middle. However, the first half would end 0-0.

Then in the second half for the Rams they looked to exploit the middle of the field with most of the six shots coming from Linnea Madsen (Whitefish, Mont./Polson) and Abby Schwinden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North). Unfortunately, in the 55th Crown's offensive was able to get a ball up the left hand side of the field and dribble into goal and slotted it far post just out of reach for goalkeeper, Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac). The Rams would then fall to the Storm 1-0.

North Central women's soccer will return to Elliot Park on Saturday October 15th against Northland College for a Homecoming game between the Lumberjills. The game time is set for 3:15 p.m. and will be an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game. Live stats and video can be found here.
