MINNEAPOLIS – On Tuesday afternoon North Central women's soccer lost a tough National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) matchup to Providence University College Pilots 3-0 in Elliot Park.
In the first half the Rams were able to possess and create combinations on offensive but were unable to find the back of the net. The Pilots went up 1-0 after an impressive goal scored from a corner in the 18th minute. Despite exchanging chances on net Providence then earned penalty kick in the 39th minute. Goalkeeper Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac) would get a hand on the ball but it still crossed the line. Providence finished the half up 2-0 on the Rams.
Then in the second half the Rams were able to find offensive help from Abby Schwinden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) and Linnea Madsen (Whitefish, Mont./Polson) to get four shots on goal. In the 60th minute on a breakaway from the backline Providence scored again to bring the final score to 3-0. The Pilots outshot the Rams 16-7. In net for the Rams, Herrera, made four saves on the day multiple in which she came off her line and defended the goal against breakaway opportunities.
The Rams will be back in action on Saturday afternoon in Morris, Minnesota against the Cougars of the University of Minnesota-Morris. The game time is set for 3:15 p.m. The next home game for the Rams will be Tuesday October 25th at 3:15 p.m. against Bethany Lutheran. Live stats and video for that game can be found here.
