Rams Lose At Home To Vikings

MINNEAPOLIS – North Central women's soccer lost to Bethany Lutheran 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Elliot Park. In the non-conference matchup against the Vikings the Rams fared a better result than the first meeting between the two teams. The Rams played a solid game of soccer despite giving up three goals on minor defensive breakdowns.

In the first half the Rams slowed the Vikings offense holding them to four shots and only one corner kick all half. The Rams saw offensive opportunities come their way with combinations but all shots either went wide or high of the net. In the 19th minute the Vikings were able to get on the board with a bouncing ball on the Rams backline and then a breakaway 1 vs. 1 situation between Rachel Bitter and Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac). Herrera came out to stop the attack but Bitter was able to slot it home into the lower right corner. The first half ended in favor of Bethany Lutheran 1-0.

In the final 45 minutes the Rams saw more offensive opportunities with chances from captains Dakotah Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-St Mary's) and Linnea Madsen (Whitefish, Mont./Polson). However, Bethany Lutheran would strike twice from Nicole Moldstad to give the Vikings the 3-0 win over the Rams.

North Central will have one more game in the regular season on Friday afternoon in Elliot Park against the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets. The game will be an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game and will start at 3:15 p.m. Live stats and video for the Rams final 2016 game can be found here.
