MINNEAPOLIS - North Central women's soccer earned a 2-0 victory over Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent UW-Superior on Friday afternoon. In a very close and physical game the Rams were able to get their offense going amd with steller play from the defense finish the 2016 on a high note.

In the first half both teams had equal chances on net with two shots and two corner kicks each. The teams traded possession on the field and fouls as the game progressed. The first half ended 0-0 with both teams eager to score.

The Rams started the second half strong with offensive opportunities in their final third (of the field). In the 62nd minute the Rams would get their best opportunity from a penalty kick after Dakotah Sparrman was fouled as she entered the box on the left side of the field. Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck-St Mary's) took the PK and converted for the 1-0 lead. Play evened out again trading chances for both teams until in the 83rd minute the Rams attacked the right side of the field. Caitlin Funnell (Cleveland, Ohio/West Geagua) took a shot on goal but deflected off the keeper back into play. A bunch of North Central jerseys surrounded the net but Dakoath Sparrman jumped on it for her second goal of the game and brought the Ram lead to 2-0. Goalkepper, Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac) had seven saves on for the Rams and recorded her third shutout of the year in net.

Following this game, the Rams concluded their 2016 season with a 4-13 overall record and 2-6 record in the UMAC. The Rams are not eligable for post-season competition and will begin preparations for the nontraditional spring season and the 2017 season.
