ST. PAUL, Minn. – On Wednesday afternoon North Central women's soccer travel to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul to face the Eagles for the second time this season. Despite a great team effort, the Rams suffered a 5-0 loss to the Eagles for the second time in 2016.
In the first half the Rams came out with high defensive pressure and limited the Eagles to only 9 of their 37 shots. Tight and organized defensive play kept the Rams competitive in the game despite accumulating number of injures. However, in the 31st minute the Eagles got on the board from a scramble within the box which was slotted home from Dana Lehtinen. Linley Norman, Anna Hitterdal, and Alyssa Grosz all had goals for the Eagles resulting in a 5-0 score.
For the Rams, Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac) had 13 saves in net many of which helped rally the team on defense.
North Central women's soccer will be in action again on Saturday afternoon in New Ulm, Minn. against Martin Luther at 3:15 p.m. From this point in the season moving further all games against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) teams will feature the men's teams first and the women's teams second. The next home events for the Rams will be on Tuesday October 11th versus Crown College and Saturday October 15th versus Northland College. Both games have a 3:15 p.m. start time.
