Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. – North Central men's soccer competed against Martin Luther on Saturday afternoon in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) game which ended in a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of physical play. The Rams came out looking for a win after a tough 2-1 loss to Martin Luther early in the season at home in Elliot Park.
The Rams started the game with heavy a heavy defensive focus. Danny Williams (Coon Rapids, Minn./Spring Lake Park) would be shown a yellow card in the 31st minute for a studs up, dangerous play tackle outside the box which lead sophomore, goalkeeper Gabe Hartwig (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) woud make the save to help keep the Rams in the game. Martin Luther out possessed outshot the Rams in the first half.
In the second half the Rams tried to find the back of the net but still could not capitalize. After 90 minutes of play the game would go into overtime. The Rams would keep offensive pressure from Dennis Morales (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) and Josue Boutouli (Lome, Togo/Eagan) up top for a hopeful Rams goal. During the second overtime period the Rams had multiple opportunities for a goal but were stopped by Martin Luther goalkeeper, Caleb King.
The Rams will compete again on Tuesday afternoon in Elliot Park against Crown College at 1:00 p.m. The Rams will then play again on Saturday afternoon for North Central University's Homecoming festivities against Northland College at 1:00 p.m. in an UMAC game.
