Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. – Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) scored 29 points for North Central University (1-8) as the Rams fell to Northland College (4-6) 75-64 on Friday evening in Ashland, Wisconsin. Annabel Morrisroe (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) tied her season-high with 17 points and collected 13 rebounds for the Rams. The Rams outrebounded the Lumberjills 49 to 37 over the four quarter span. The Lumberjills shot 44 percent from the floor and 24 percent from beyond the arc compared to the Rams 32 percent from field goal range and 17 percent from beyond the three-point line. The contest between the Rams and the Jills saw seven lead changes before the final whistle in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup.
How It Happened:
First Quarter: A slow start from the Rams offense helped put the Jills ahead 12-9 after 10 minutes of play. The Rams shot 0-8 from beyond the arc and only hit 15 percent of their field goals. The Rams saw success from the free-throw line getting three out of the four attempts to fall.
Second Quarter: The game began to even out as both teams were matching shot for shot from the field. Swanson scored seven points and had two rebounds in the quarter to bring the Rams within five points going into halftime.
Third Quarter: The Rams outscored the Jills in the third quarter with Swanson and Morrisroe both had seven points while Rachel Stevenson (Ramsey, Minn./PACT Charter) added five to close the lead to one point going into the final quarter of play.
Fourth Quarter: Swanson led the Rams with 11 points and was a perfect 2-2 from the free-throw line. However, the Jills offensive shot 57 percent from the floor compared to North Central's 46 percent and pulled away in the final minutes of play.
The Rams will play again on Dec. 17 against Finlandia University in Hancock, Mich. The game is slated to tip-off at 3 p.m. live video for the contest can be found here. The next home game for the Rams is after the New Year on Jan. 13 versus Martin Luther at 5:30 p.m.
