Women's Hoops Drops Conference Contest to UW-Superior

Box Score

MINNEAPOLIS-- Women's Basketball was unable to stay with the University of Wisconsin-Superior in a decisive, 87-41, loss to the Yellowjackets at home on Friday. The Rams were forced into a stream of turnovers and struggled shooting from the floor in the loss to the defending Upper Midwest Conference Champions.

After scoring just nine points and committing nine turnovers in the first quarter, North Central was behind 22-9 after ten minutes. The second quarter was better for the Rams who went into the locker room with a bit of momentum despite trailing 39-24.

The Yellowjackets dominated the third period, outscoring NCU 27-7 and the Rams did not have the firepower to answer back in the final ten minutes.

Junior Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) led the Rams with 14 points despite fouling out with six minutes left in the game and playing only 26 minutes. Senior Sydney Steele (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) added seven points while freshman Annabel Morrisroe (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.

With Saturday's loss, the Rams fall to 0-2 in UMAC play and 0-6 overall. NCU will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they host Oak Hills Christian College (Bemidji, Minn.) for a 6:30 p.m. tip-off.
