Box Score MINNEAPOLIS – North Central University women's basketball (1-6) secured their first win of the 2016-17 season over Oak Hills Christian (0-2), 70-24 on Tuesday in Clark-Danielson Gymnasium. Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn. / East Central) scored 16 points for the Rams and added seven rebounds and six assists in the win. Both Amy Hoover (Royalton, Minn. / Royalton) and Haley Modahl (Minneapolis, Minn. / Edison) added double-figure points for the Rams. Both Hoover and Modahl set individual season-highs for points with 11 and 10 respectfully.
The Rams outrebounded the Wolfpack 69-28 and had 27 second-chance points on the evening. North Central scored 27 points off Wolfpack turnovers adding to the Rams lead. In addition, the Rams' bench tallied 25 points in the collective team win.
How It Happened:
First quarter: North Central started the game on a 6-0 run holding the Wolfpack without a point until the 6:20 mark of the quarter. Swanson lead the Rams with seven points and shooting 3-for-3 from the floor. The Rams lead 16-6 after the first ten minutes of play.
Second quarter: Coming off one of their highest scoring first quarters, the Rams went on a 14-1 run against a struggling Wolfpack offense. North Central forced seven turnovers in the second quarter which lead to a 32-11 lead at halftime.
Third quarter: Swanson lead all scorers with nine points three rebounds to extend the Rams lead going into the final quarter of play, 50-16.
Fourth quarter: The Rams went 2-for-2 at the free throw line. Hoover came off the bench for the Rams scoring eight of her 11 points of night.
