Box Score JOPLIN, Mo.-- For the second straight season North Central Women's Basketball out-performed their seeding to earn a fifth place finish at the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship Tournament. The seventh seeded Rams defeated Pensacola Christian College, 61-55, on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams did what they needed to in a back and forth game to get a victory. After leading 16-10 after a quarter, Pensacola outscored NCU by four in the second period and the Rams led just 28-26 at the half.
Pensacola responded strongly in the third quarter, overcoming an eight point Rams lead with a 10-1 run to close the third quarter. The Eagles led 45-44 after 30 mintues but the Rams held PCC scoreless for the final 2:48 and outscored the opponent 16-10 in the last quarter to take the victory.
Sophomore Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) wrapped up her second appearance at the NCCAA National tournament with a 29 point, 4 rebound performance. Senior Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) put up 15 points and 12 rebounds in her final game as a Ram.
Jamie High wrapped up her NCU career as the first player in school history to score over 1600 points, ending with a program record 1,612 points. She also recorded 1212 rebounds, just the second Ram to surpass 1200 rebounds, finishing second all-time in that category.
Lizzy Swanson closed the tourament averaging 26 points per contest over three games. She finished the season with 621 points, a new NCU single season record.
