Rams Blanked by Bethany Lutheran and St. Marys

MINNEAPOLIS-- Women's Tennis was in action over the weekend with a pair of matches. Friday the Rams dropped an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match to Bethany Lutheran College before falling to The College of St. Mary on Saturday.

Friday the Rams went down 9-0 at the hands of Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.). Sophomore Jalia Cappelli (Elk River, Minn./Elk River) nearly claimed the Rams first match victory of the season, falling 3-6, 7-6 (10-4) in a super tie break in the number three singles slot. Freshman Lindsay Freitag (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) was also competitive in a 6-4, 6-1 loss in her first action of the season.

Saturday North Central took on NAIA opponent The College of St. Mary (Omaha, Neb.) at the Owatonna Tennis Center. The Rams were also defeated 9-0 by the Flames. Freshman Linnea Madson (Whitefish, Mont./Polson) was the most competitive player for the Rams, falling 6-3, 6-3 in number five singles.

North Central will be off for the Easter holiday before coming back for a pair of home matches in UMAC play. March 31 the Rams host Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) for a 6 p.m. match at Lifetime Fitness-Lakeville. The next day NCU hosts the University of Minnesota-Morris (Morris, Minn.) for a 2 p.m. match also at Lifetime Fitness in Lakeville.
