Box Score 2 MINNEAPOLIS-- Rams Softball is still looking for their first win after being swept by the University of Northwestern on Saturday. The Eagles defeated the Rams 33-0 and 14-0 in a pair of conference games at East Phillips Park.
In game one North Central posted just three hits and had just five base runners in the contest. Northwestern pounded NCU with 21 hits and 18 earned runs. The Rams committed five errors accounting for 15 unearned runs.
The game was 3-0 after an inning of play but UNW posted 12 runs in the second and followed that up with 14 more in the third. Sophomores Samantha Bergum (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Kylee Bommersbach (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) and freshman Nora Sullivan (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) each recorded one hit for North Central.
Game two saw the Rams improve to five hits on offense and managed seven baserunners but could not plate any runs. Defense continued to be an issue for NCU as they committed six errors accounting for eight unearned runs. Kylee Bommersbach and Nora Sullivan each recorded a hit. Sophomores Amanda Roth (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) and Danelle Pageler (Warren, Minn./Warren-Alvarado-Oslo) along with freshman Hannah Pfadt (Eastern Shore, Mary./Chestertown Christian Academy) also got hits in the game.
North Central will look to bounce back with a home double-header on Wednesday against Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.). The action is scheduled for a 3 p.m. first pitch at East Phillips Park.
