Rams Outlasted By Vikings

MANKATO, Minn. – North Central women's soccer traveled to Mankato, Minnesota on Saturday afternoon for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference matchup against the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran. The game ended in a 5-0 loss for the Rams despite a very even tactical approach.

The Vikings opened the game with heavy offensive pressure which resulted in a goal two minutes into the game from Rachel Bitter (assisted by Nicole Moldstad). Bitter would go on to find the net once more before the game ended for the Vikings. The first half of play concluded with the Vikings up 2-0 on the Rams. In the second half the Rams adjusted defensively and had more opportunities to score but couldn't find the back of the net.

Monica Herrera (Capac, Mich./Capac) lead the Rams with 16 saves in goal and had many great saves off shots from the crossbar or rebounds into the net. Dakotah Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn/Shattuck-St. Mary's) and Emma Brekhus (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) both had chances up top to score and helped keep the pressure on the Vikings in the second half.

The Rams next game is Wednesday, September 21st when they travel to St. Bonifacius to play Crown College. The game time is set for 3:00 p.m. Live stats and video can be found here.
