Box Score MINNEAPOLIS – On Saturday afternoon, North Central men's soccer hosted St. Scholastica in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game which finished 3-1 in favor of the Saints.
St. Scholastica got on the score board first in the 20th minute from Shawayne Folkes. One minute later Trygve Rennan was issued a straight red card for a foul against the Rams. St. Scholastica would then play the remaining 70 minutes with only 10 men on the field. Scholastica would score again twice in the first half. Luke Buckton would go on to score in the 25th minute for the Saints. Scholastica would score again off a Penalty Kick from Kyle Farrar in 37th minute. The first half ended 3-0 for Scholastica.
However, in the second half the Rams would find more opportunities on goal and convert one in 76th by Josué Boutouli (Lomé, Togo/Eagan) for his sixth goal of the year. The Rams moved the ball from the back line through the midfield and an excellent ball from Ian Brekhus (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake) would fall to Josué for the go ahead goal. In the final 20 minutes the Rams outshot the Saints 4-2 with multiple chances for a second goal. The Rams kept offesive pressure all second half but buckled down and defense and did not allow the Saints to score again in the game. Gabe Hartwig (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) lead the Rams defensively with 8 saves, one of which was from a penalty kick taken early in the first half.
