MINNEAPOLIS – After a close contest North Central men's soccer tallied a 2-0 win against the Lumberjacks of Northland College on Friday afternoon in Elliot Park. Both Josué Boutouli and Ryan Windauer scored for the Rams. With this win the Rams improve to 7-3 overall and remain 2-2 within the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

The Rams started the first half strong on offense with 11 shots and maintaining possession on the Jacks defensive half for most of the first 45 minutes. In the 40^th minute in an attack surrounding the goal Josué Boutouli (Lome, Togo/Eagan) slotted home his 7^th goal of the season and gave the Rams a 1-0 lead over the Jacks. With that goal Boutouli leads the UMAC in goals (7), goals per game (.700), points (13), and points per game (1.44). In the second half the Rams kept offensive pressure and outshot the Jacks 13-3. With two minutes remaining (88^th minute) Ryan Windauer (Polson, Mont./Mission Valley Christian Academy) secured the win for the Rams with his first goal of the year. Gabe Hartwig (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines) finished in net with four saves for his sixth clean sheet of the season.

The Rams will be back in action next week with two road contests. On October 5^th the Rams will travel to Northwestern University-St. Paul for a rematch against the Eagles. The game is scheduled for a 3:15pm kick off. Then Saturday October 8^th the Rams will travel to Martin Luther to play in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference game against the Knights. The game against Martin Luther will start the schedule flip for UMAC games where the men's teams will play first followed by the women. The game in New Ulm, is expected to start at 1:00p.m.
