Box Score SUPERIOR, Wis. – North Central men's basketball (5-9, 3-6 UMAC) fell to the University of Wisconsin-Superior (5-12, 4-5 UMAC), 81-71, on Friday night for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup. Travis Voigt (Green Bay, Wis./NEW Lutheran) scored 25 points of which 15 points came from 3-point range. The Rams started the night strong with the lead but relinquished control towards the end of the first half. The Rams had 15 points off turnovers compared to Superior's 10. Joel Cline (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) added eight rebounds and four assists for the Rams.
How It Happened
First Half: Jared High scored the first five points for the Rams giving them the early 5-1 lead. Rebounds from Cline and High helped extend the lead to 10 points. Superior completed a 9-0 run midway through the first half to take a two-point lead over North Central. The Rams eventually fell behind by eight points to Superior's 3-point shooting. Jared High had 10 points while Isaiah Rustad and Joel Cline each tallied five rebounds in the first. North Central trailed 40-32 at the half.
Second Half: Travis Voigt scored 17 of his 25 points and shot 62.5% from 3-point range. North Central's largest deficit was 14 early in the half. The Rams were able to bring the game within one point with 6:51 left in the game. High record six points in the second half to give him 16 on the evening.
North Central men's basketball will be back in action against St. Scholastica tomorrow afternoon in Duluth, Minnesota. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
