Rams Stung By Yellowjackets

SUPERIOR, Wis. – North Central women's basketball (3-12, 1-8 UMAC) dropped an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) road game against the University of Wisconsin-Superior (13-4, 9-0 UMAC), 84-55, on Friday evening. Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) and Annabel Morrisroe (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) both scored 14 points while Morrisroe tallied seven rebounds. Swanson now sits 14 points (1,306) from a tie for fourth place (1,320) on the NCU Career Scoring leaderboard. 

How It Happened

First Quarter: Swanson scored seven of her points in the first quarter. The Rams outshot the Yelowjackets shooting 46.7% from the floor and 66.7% from 3-point range. North Central and Superior were tied at 17-17 but at the end of one period of play the Rams trailed 19-17. 

Second Quarter: Morrisroe tallied three points under the basket in the second quarter. North Central finished the half down 50-22.

Third Quarter: Morrisroe recorded eight points and four rebounds for the Rams. North Central entered the fourth quarter behind Superior, 72-35.

Fourth Quarter: Swanson had her last seven points and two rebounds in the final 10 minutes. Sydney Steele (Woodbury, Minn./New Life Academy) had five points and four assists for the Rams.

North Central women's basketball will be back in action tomorrow afternoon in Duluth, Minnesota for a matchup with St. Scholastica. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
