Box Score DULUTH, Minn. – North Central women's basketball (3-13, 1-9 UMAC) dropped an UMAC game against St. Scholastica (5-12, 4-6 UMAC), 71-57, on Saturday afternoon. The game was close through three quarters of play until the fourth quarter when the Saints began an 8-0 run and limited the Rams to five points in the final ten minutes of play. Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) and Annabel Morrisroe (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet) each scored 14 points. Morrisroe had 17 rebounds and two steals on the evening.
How It Happened:
First Quarter: Morrisroe scored 11 of her 14 points and six of her 17 rebounds in the first ten minutes. Rams trailed 25-14 going into the second.
Second Quarter: Swanson recorded eight points and had four rebounds in a quarter when the Rams outrebounded the Saints 9-4. North Central outscored St. Scholastica 19-14 in the quarter to cut the Saints lead to six points 39-33 going into half.
Third Quarter: Swanson added nine points in the second consecutive quarter outscoring the Saints 19-17. Morrisroe tallied five rebounds to cut the Saints lead to four points, 56-52.
Fourth Quarter: Rachel Stevenson (Ramsey, Minn./PACT Charter) added two of her seven points on the night as the Rams struggled to covert. Scholastica completed an 11-2 run to separate from the Rams and grab the win, 71-57.
North Central women's basketball returns home this week for a Tuesday Jan. 24 contest with National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) member Faith Baptist at 4:30 p.m. Then Saturday Jan. 28 travel to St. Paul for a crosstown rivalary with The University of Northwestern-St. Paul with tip-off scheduled for 3 p.m.
