Hot Shooting Rams Knock off Crown in UMAC Game of the Week

Box Score

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn.-- Men's Basketball claimed a solid road win at Crown College on Friday evening. The Rams used great shooting from the three-point area and a balanced box score to cruise past the Storm, 95-76.

After Crown College jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first 45 seconds, it was all North Central. The Rams responded with a forceful 14-0 run of their own, making six consecutive shots to take control of the game.

Crown called a quick timeout with 16:24 to play in the opening half to stop the Rams surge but North Central continued their shooting clinic firing an even .600 from the floor, including 6-11 from behind the arch in the first 20 minutes. NCU carried a 45-31 lead to the break.

In the second half, North Central covered every move the Storm made before eventually leading by as many as 22 with 8:28 left. The Rams offense cooled off only slightly in the second half (.581) but they were 5-8 from the three-point line (.628) and Crown did not have an answer.

Sophomores Jared High (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) and C.J. Lewis (Minneapolis, Minn./Bloomington-Kennedy/Wis.-River Falls) each had 22 points. Lewis added 7 assists and posted no turnovers in 34 minutes of action. The duo combined to shoot 7-10 from the three point line.

Senior Travis Voigt (Green Bay, Wis./N.E.W. Lutheran) added 14 and a game-high 8 assists with just one turnover in 30 minutes. Junior Joel Cline (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) added 15 points.

Overall, NCU shot .590 (36-61) on the night and posted 20 assists to just 9 turnovers while going 12-15 (.800) from the free throw line and 11-19 (.579) from downtown. 95 points are the second most North Central has scored this season.

North Central will be back home for a pair of conference games next weekend. Friday Martin Luther College(New Ulm, Minn.) comes to Minneapolis for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off. On Saturday Bethany Lutheran College (Mankato, Minn.) is in town for a 5 p.m. match-up.
