ASHLAND, Wis. - North Central Women's Soccer (6-8, 2-7 UMAC) fell to Northland College Lumberjills (5-7-3, 3-3-3 UMAC) in a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup on Tuesday afternoon on the road. North Central jumped out to a 2-0 lead at half but the last 45 minutes of play Northland roared back to complete the comeback. The Rams outshot the Jills 19-15 and dominated the game offensively but couldn't hold on for the win.
Throughout the first half the Rams had their chances to score but it wasn't until the 39th minute that a ball from Abby Schwinden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) split the Jills midfield and defensive lines into Dakotah Sparrman (Apple Valley, Minn./Shattuck St. Mary's) who got in behind the backline and had a one-on-one with the Jills kepper and calmy put it in the back fo the net. A minute later Schwinden would get her goal from a through ball by Anna Hartwig (Eagle River, Wis./Northland Pines). Rams led 2-0 at half and carrying the momentum with them going into the final 45 minutes. In the 55th minute Northland began their comeback scoring four goals in 25 minutes. Sparrman added one more goal for the Rams in the 85th minute to bring the Rams within one goal for the tie. However, the Rams shots were stopped just short of goal from Northland's, Megan Jordan.
Up Next: North Central will return home on Friday, October 20 for a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) matchup with Maranatha Baptist University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis. The Rams will then travel North to UW-Superior on Saturday, October 21 for a UMAC matchup with the Yellowjackets. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. in Superior.
