MINNEAPOLIS - North Central University Men's Soccer (5-5-3, 2-4-3 UMAC) defeated Maranatha Baptist University (7-8) on Friday night at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis, 3-1. The Rams and Sabercats contest was a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) matchup with an impact on NCCAA Regional Rankings. The Rams are now undefeated in the region with wins over Faith Baptist, Moody Bible, Providence, and Maranatha Baptist.
North Central didn't wait long into the game before Kaleb Smith (Kijabe, Kenya/Rift Valley Academy) scored for the Rams in the 13th minute. Chris Parker (Grantsburg, Wis.Grantsburg) doubled the Rams lead in the 44th minute. North Central outshot Maranatha 6-3 in the first half and 8-4 in the second half. The Sabercats cut the Rams lead in half in the 67th minute but the Rams responded 14 minutes later with Smith's second goal of the game to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Rams. The Rams also held the advantage on corner kicks, 6-1.
