Sabercats Pounce On Rams

MINNEAPOLIS - North Central Women's Soccer (5-9, 2-7 UMAC) fell to Maranatha Baptist University (6-6-1) on Friday afternoon, 1-0, at Parade Stadium in downtown Minneapolis. The Rams and Sabercats matchup was a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) game impacting NCCAA Regional Rankings in which Maranatha Baptist was ranked this past week. North Central held the offensive advantage on paper outshooting the Sabercats 14-11.

After the first 45 minutes of play the Rams and Sabercats were tied at zero with the game still up for grabs. North Central had double the offensive power than the Sabercats with a 10-5 shot ratio. However, the second half the Sabercats offense found their opportunities on the Rams defense. In the 61st minute Maranatha's Alexis Sponable found a through ball at her feet after a run from the Rams backline for a one-versus-one opportunity with the Rams' Ellie Tieszen (Stillwater, Minn./White Bear Lake).

Up Next: The Rams will travel to Superior, Wis. on October 20 for a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup with the Yellowjackets. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
