Double OT Thriller in Saint Paul

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - North Central University Men's Soccer (1-2-1, 0-1-1 UMAC) traveled to The University of Northwestern-St. Paul (2-1-2, 1-0-1 UMAC) on Saturday afternoon for a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup with the Eagles. Despite the extra twenty minutes of play of overtime the Rams and Eagles could not break the 1-1 deadlock and ended in a draw. The Rams played the last 40 minutes a man down after a red card from Dennis Morales (Eagan, Minn./Eagan) after a collision with the UNW goalkeeper, Turner Main. Northwestern outshot the Rams, 30-17, and held the advantage on corner kicks, 19-6 but couldn't capitalize for the win.

Northwestern would get on the board first in the 12th minute and maintained the 1-0 through halftime. However, in the 62nd minute Josue Boutouli (Lome, Togo/Eagan) was able to break the Eagles backline and get in on goal for a quick ball to the right post just past Main. Today's goal was Boutouli's third goal in four games for the Rams as a leader on offense. Then in the 71st minute Morales would go in for a chance to score on net and collided with Main resulting in a red card from the official. As time expired in regulation, the Rams continued to play with 10 men until the final whistle came resulting the game in a draw.

Up Next: The Rams will continue UMAC play as they travel to New Ulm, Minn. for a 2 p.m. contest with the Martin Luther Knights on Tuesday, September 19.
