Rams Stung by Yellowjackets

MINNEAPOLIS - North Central University women's basketball (3-9, 1-6 UMAC) fell to The University of Wisconsin-Superior (12-4, 8-0 UMAC) in a Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup on Saturday evening, 78-61. The Yellowjackets are undefeated in the conference and hold the best record among conference opponents. However, the Rams were able to limited Superior's three-point shooting to 2-for-13 (15.4 percent) their second lowest of the season.

Superior got on the board first on a 6-0 run and never let go of the lead. The Yellowjackets led by as many as 25 and the Rams were able to cut the lead to 10 late in the second quarter. Both Lizzy Swanson (Askov, Minn./East Central) and Haleigh Filer (Sacramento, Calif./Capital Christian) scored double-figure points for the Rams, 12 and 17 respectively. Bethany Shield (Lincoln, Neb./Southwest) and Filer added six rebounds for the Rams defense each.

The Rams will be back in action on Monday January 15 against Mount Mary University. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
