Women's Hoops Struggles in Loss at Northwestern

ST. PAUL, Minn.-- A tough opponent and a low shooting percentage combined to produce a one-sided loss on the road for women's basketball on Saturday evenining at the University of Northwestern. The Rams came up on the short end of a 70-38 scoreline in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference action at the Erickson Center.

North Central (4-11, 1-8 UMAC) produced just five field goals over the first two quarters while the University of Northwestern (St. Paul, Minn.) controlled play and raced out to a 26-point lead at halftime. In the second half the Eagles continued to enforce their style of play and the Rams never found their scoring touch.

The Rams fired just .283 (13-46) from the floor while committing 27 turnovers that directly led to 28 points for the Eagles. Freshman Bethany Shield (Lincoln, Neb./Southwest) led NCU with 11 points.

North Central will look to get back on track on Monday when they travel to Faith Baptist Bible College (Ankeny, Iowa). The Rams and Eagles are set for a 4 p.m. tip-off. Live stats and video can be found at www.NCURams.com.
