Rams Take Down Faith Baptist Bible College

ANKENY, Iowa - The North Central University Women's basketball team earned their fifth win of the season by defeating Faith Baptist Bible College on Tuesday night by a score of 76-39. NCU (5-11) shot 50 percent from the field (32-for-64) en route to a victory over Faith Baptist (6-7).

The first quarter opened up as both teams traded baskets early on in a tight first quarter of play. After one quarter the Rams held a narrow 14-10 advantage as seven different Ram players each scored a basket to pace the offense. In the second and third quarters the Rams would begin to take off. After the half NCU led 36-18. In her first career start, Betty Rand led the Rams into half time with eight points after going 3-for-3 from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line.

In the third quarter the Rams opened their lead to 57-25. Senior Lizzy Swanson added nine points in the third quarter after going a perfect 4-for-4 from the field while pulling down four rebounds.

On the night, Lizzy Swanson led the Rams with 18 points and six rebounds. Betty Rand added 12 points and four assists on the night. In her first start, Journey Short recorded a career high of 11 points on the night as she went 4-for-7 from the field and 3-for-6 from three-point range.

The win on Tuesday night in Ankeny snaps a two-game losing streak for the Rams. NCU will look to take this momentum into tomorrow night when they play host to the College of St. Scholastica in downtown Minneapolis at 7:30 p.m. St. Scholastica is currently fourth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference standings as they are 5-4 in conference play with a 9-8 overall record for the 2017-2018 season.
