Box Score 3 PLYMOUTH, Minn. - In day two action of the NCU Dome Tournament North Central University softball (4-10) fared similarily to day one results. The Rams found success against Maranatha Baptist University but fell to Finlandia University and The University of Minnesota-Morris.
In the first game of the day, the Rams got off to a hot start with six runs between the first two innings. North Central scored three more runs in the top of the third before the Sabercats got on the board in the bottom of the third for their only run of the game. Both teams were scoreless fourth inning before the Rams added three runs to end the game in five innings. Ali Cornelius (Milaca, Minn./Spectrum) got the start for the Rams at pitcher with seven strikeouts and earned her second win in two days. Amanda Roth (Appleton, Wis./Neenah) scored three runs for NCU.
The second game of the day saw the Rams versus Lions, North Central's errors aided the Lions batting efforts in route to NCU's loss. Cornelius and Emma Bushey (Three Lakes, Wis./Three Lakes) split time in the circle for the Rams pitching two innings each. Finlandia outhit the Rams, 4-2, Kylee Bommersbach (Sartell, Minn./Sartell) and Ellee Laws (Odgen, Iowa/Odgen) had hits for NCU.
In the final game of the day against The University of Minnesota-Morris North Central fell to Morris in five innings. The Cougars aggresive batting and base-running helped the Cougars get off to a 7-1 start after three innings. The Rams score their one run of the game when Alex Rodriguez (Minneapolis, Minn./Homeschool) got on first base from an error batters three through six when Stephaine Caravalho (Santa Clara, Calif./West Valley Community College) reached first on an error to send Rodriguez home for the Rams score. The Cougars score two more runs in the top of the fifth to bring the score to 9-1.
The Rams will be in action next Saturday in a doubleheader against Silver Lake College at East Phillips Park in Minneapolis.
