Box Score 2 MINNETONKA, Minn - The North Central University Baseball team was back in action on Tuesday night. The Rams fell to Crown College in game one 3-0 before winning game two by a score of 3-1.
In game one, NCU began a rally in the top of the third inning. With the bases loaded and no one out Cory Kukkola lined out to the third basemen who doubled up Grant Payne at third for a double play. The Storm escaped the jam keeping the score knotted at 0-0.
In the bottom half of the third, the Storm would scratch across two runs on multiple fielding errors by the Rams. In the bottom of the fourth inning a leadoff walk came all the way around to score giving the Storm a 3-0 lead.
Gideon Dunn pitched well for the Storm, holding the Rams scoreless with five strikeouts to earn the victory.
Eli Valder came on in relief for NCU logging three innings of scoreless ball.
In game two Freshman Justin Torres started on the mound opposite Tanner Pruett for the Storm. Both pitchers settled in early in a pitchers duel.
In the bottom of the third inning Tate Andrews broke the tie with a three-run homerun to left field. Both teams would struggle to get much offense going after that as Torres escaped a jam in the fifth inning.
John Kutzke came in relief for the Rams to earn his first save of the season with two scoreless innings of work.
With the victory the Rams move to 1-8 overall on the season. NCU will be back in action on Friday as they play host to Maranatha Baptist in a four-game weekend series with first pitch slated for 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
