NCU Baseball opens season with Double-Header in Tucson

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TUCSON, Ariz. – The North Central University Baseball team started their 2018 campaign with a doubleheader versus Gustavus Adolphus College down in sunny Arizona. The Rams struggled to get going dropping both games by the scores of 34-6 and 8-1.

Game 1: After the first game got out of reach, Junior Tate Andrews and Freshman Justin Torres found some success at the plate. Andrews hitting from the DH spot, went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a double. Torres went 1 for 4, with a double and drove in two RBIs.

Game 2: NCU improved defensively from game one, but the Gusties pitchers did not allow the Rams batters much room to operate. Starting pitcher Junior Bryce Riege picked up his first complete game of the early season, allowing seven hits and two strikeouts. The lone run scored after Junior Cory Kukkola's steal of third and advance to home off an error.

North Central returns to the diamond tomorrow March 6, when the Rams take on the Wheaton College Thunder.  First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 AM Central Standard Time at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Ariz.
