Minneapolis, MN - Terrorizing performance by Rocket League results in a pair of wins.
North Central University's Rocket League Gold and Blue teams finished regular season play last night looking to clinch higher seeding as they get ready to head into the post season.
NCU Gold faced off against George Fox University, a team whose in game rank was higher than the majority of NCU. The first match would go into overtime, where Jacob "BonesBroberg" Broberg (Austin, MN), would score the game winning goal, securing the 3-2 victory. NCU would capitalize off the energy and momentum from the overtime win, taking the second game 3-0. Seeing the opportunity to close the door on George Fox, Ryan "maui" Mau (Green Bay, WI) would score all 5 goals in an incredible performance. NCU won the final game 5-1, with a final match score of 3-1.
When asked about the matchup being weighted towards George Fox on paper, Micah "miciliux" Headley (Forest Lake, MN) said, "Despite what our ranks say, we have all been playing insane. We don't feel like we need to rank up to be able to defeat teams that are ranked much higher than us."
Meanwhile NCU Blue would face Ferris State Black. Taking too long to heat up in the first game, NCU found themselves on the losing end of a 2-3 game. NCU would answer back with a 6-0 statement win in a game 2 where every player got on the scoreboard. Game 3 would be an equally dominant showing with NCU going 5-1. To close out the series, the Blue Team won the last game 7-1. Russell "Big Time Russ" Nielsen (Morris, MN), was the standout performer in the match having scored 13 total goals.
Both teams finish their season with a 5-1 record, with NCU Blue finishing first in their division. Blue and Gold look to take this momentum into the offseason with their first matches happening November 7th.
