Esports Competes in Final Week of Spring Season

4/22/2024 2:15:00 PM

Minneapolis, MN -- This past week, North Central University (NCU) saw its Rocket League team compete for a NACE Conference Championship against Ferris State University. The Rams would fight hoof and horn, keeping each game within 2 goals. NCU would ultimately prove to be unable to combat Ferris' demolition heavy style of play and would finish 2nd in conference. Fortnite also had a duo compromised of  Christian "waycool12" Berry and  Micah "mhumpa04" Humpa compete in the NACE Zero Builds Fortnite Finals.

Rocket League vs Ferris State University (4-2 Defeat) - FULL RESULTS

Game 1: NCU - 2   FSU - 3
  • NCU's improved coordination and passing would prove useful as the team would open the championship with the first goal from  Blaise "Blaise_C" Crowson. Keeping solid rotations  Andre "Drae" Muteba would be the next to score for NCU with only 2 minutes left. From here missed touches and poor spacing would cause NCU to allow Ferris to fight back and score 3 goals closing out game one with a loss for NCU.
Game 2: NCU - 1   FSU - 2
  • NCU would show they were not shaken by the first game playing solid defense in the first 2 minutes before Crowson would again open with a goal. The lead would not last long as Ferris would soon respond with a goal of their own. Ferris would score the final goal of game 2 just as the time round out leaving NCU in a 2-game deficit in the best of 7.
Game 3: NCU - 2   FSU - 4
  • NCU would try to play an increased pace to gain control of the field. This would lead to more missed touches resulting in Ferris scoring the opening goal for the first time in the series. Slowing pace and returning to passing style would see NCU scoring twice from Crowson and Muteba respectively. Ferris would then score 2 goals off back-to-back kickoffs once again putting NCU behind. Ferris would seal the game 3 win with a goal in the final 10 seconds.
Game 4: NCU - 3  FSU - 2
  • Despite NCU beginning with solid defense Ferris would again score the opening goal. NCU would respond with a goal off a corner pinch. With confidence restored, Muteba would score the 2nd goal for NCU. Ferris would tie the game with no time remaining, putting the 4th game into overtime. Muteba would score for NCU after only 20 seconds earning NCU their first win in the series.
Game 5: NCU - 4  FSU - 2
  • Muteba would score a goal for NCU in the first 30 seconds in game 5 of the finals. Ferris would eventually respond off a double touch that sent the ball under the defender. Returning to solid passing style Crowson would put NCU back in the lead. With only 45 seconds left, NCU Crowson would score another goal, Ferris would respond with a goal off kickoff and Muteba would do the same. NCU would win game 5 putting them 1 game behind Ferris.
Game 6: NCU - 1  FSU - 2
  • Ferris would begin to put demolition pressure on Muteba preventing him from being involved in many of the plays during the final game.  Despite this NCU would score the opening goal from Josiah "Uso Usagi" John as Ferris left the net open to play more aggressively. NCU's lead would not last as Ferris would slam the door in NCU's face closing the series 4-2.

NACE Zero Builds Fortnite Finals
