Track & Field Sets Numerous Personal Bests and Program Records at SJU/CSB Invite

Collegeville, MN -- The North Central University (NCU) track and field team traveled to Saint John's University for the SJU/CSB Invitational, where they delivered strong performances across multiple events. Several Rams set personal records and season bests, highlighted by senior Isaac Weiers jumping 1.93m in the high jump, a new personal best that ranks #82 in all of NCAA Division III this season. Additionally, two more program records were broken as freshman Hunter Harris posted a PR of 23.84 seconds in the 200-meter dash and junior Tom Cao beat his previous time in the 60m hurdles with a new best of 9.96 seconds. 

Throws:

Junior Caleb Lundt had a standout day in the men's shot put, setting a personal best with a throw of 9.77m. Freshman Colton Hagen followed with a mark of 8.42m.

Jumps:

On the women's side, freshmen Joyce Horton and Lily Ciske each cleared 1.37m in the high jump. In the long jump, freshman Ari Klein reached 4.16m. In the triple jump, Horton recorded a mark of 9.86m, while Ciske set a season best of 9.77m.

NCU's men jumpers had a strong showing, led by senior Isaac Weiers' high jump clearance of 1.93m (2nd in UMAC), a new PR that ranks him #82 in NCAA Division III. Freshman Hunter Harris, sophomore Zak Ruhland, and senior Nehemiah Juaire each cleared 1.78m.

Sprints:

The women's sprinters showed speed in the 60m dash, with freshman Jazzmin Celis setting a PR at 8.67 seconds (6th in UMAC), while Ari Klein finished in 8.95 seconds. In the 200m, Lily Ciske clocked 29.27 seconds, and Celis followed closely in 29.36 seconds. The 400m saw Joyce Horton lead the Rams with a new PR time of 1:04.70 (3rd in UMAC), while Ciske finished in 1:06.65 and Celis in 1:07.04.

The men's sprinters had a successful day, with Hunter Harris recording a PR in the 60m dash at 7.36 seconds, while Nehemiah Juaire set a season best at 7.44 seconds. Harris continued his success in the 200m, posting a PR and new school record of 23.84 seconds, while Juaire finished in 24.97 seconds. Junior Tom Cao broke his previous record in the 60m hurdles with a new best of 9.96 seconds. 

Distance:

Sophomore Avah Kraushaar posted a season-best time of 2:44.94 in the 800m, representing the Rams in the mid-distance event.

Junior Garrett Converse recorded a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:06.27, finishing in the top ten at the meet. Colton Hagen followed with a time of 2:14.66. In the 3,000m, freshman Leighton Helander finished in 10:53.31, while sophomore David Bjorge crossed the line in 11:17.58.

Up next, track and field will be competing at the Snowshoe Open hosted by the University of Minnesota on Friday, February 21st.
