Transfer Students - NCAA Compliance

Transfer Students
Step 1 What type of institution are you currently attending?
  • Two-year: you do not need permission to contact a North Central Athletics staff member.
  • DIII: fill out an NCAA DIII self-release form or you may request permission from your current institution before talking to a North Central Athletics staff member.
  • DI, DII, NAIA: You must be granted permission from your current Athletic Department to be released to speak with a North Central Athletics staff member.
Step 2 Transfers to Division III institutions must complete one academic "Year in Residence" before participating in intercollegiate athletics, unless meeting an exemption. If meeting an exemption, you may be immediately eligible for practice and competition.

Step 3 Fill out online questionnaire to contact the North Central University coach in your sport(s)
Step 4 Schedule a visit
Step 5 Apply to North Central University

Financial Aid
Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Step 7 Get accepted and put deposit down. Work with Admissions Counselor for next steps including, but not limited to, housing, registration details, etc.
Step 8 Transfer Student Historical Information
  • Filled out & turned in the Transfer Student Historical Information form made available in the Athletics Compliance Course on Moodle
  • Official transcripts from ALL previous schools on file in the Registrar's Office
Step 9 Maintain eligibility
  • Enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 credits)
  • In compliance with the four seasons in 10 semesters rule
  • In good standing with all university offices
  • Meet minimum academic requirements and satisfactory academic progress toward degree
Step 10 Complete appropriate medical procedures and paperwork
  • Must have a physical completed within six months of athletic activity. A high school physical does not suffice. A physical form is provided on the Moodle Compliance Course or via the compliance office if necessary.
  • All North Central Student-Athletes MUST have active health insurance and provide a copy of their insurance card—front and back.
  • All paperwork in Moodle course must be completed.
 
Once on campus:
  • Must complete concussion testing with the Athletic Training Office before participation in any practice or competition.
 
Step 11 Attend a NCAA rules meeting
  • Attendance of NCAA Rules Meeting with the Athletics Department. Contact coach with questions regarding details of the meeting.
