Lon Flippo

Lon Flippo assumed head coach duties of the NCU men's golf program in the summer of 2016. Prior to taking the reigns of the program, Dr. Flippo served on staff at NCU as a faculty member and Director of Pastoral Studies.

Flippo has accumulated a dynamic golfing background before joining NCU. He was the founding coach for the boys' and girls' golf programs at Sobrato High School (Morgan Hill, Calif.), where he coached the boys for two years and co-coached the girls' team for one season. He helped fundraise for both programs to create the initial budgets for both programs.

In Minnesota, he has served as an attendant and starter at Midland Hills Country Club (Roseville, Minn.). He also served as walking scorer for the 3M Champions Tour in 2015 and volunteered for numerous PGA and Championship Tour events. Still an avid golfer, he currently carries an 8-handicap.

Before coming to North Central, Flippo was the lead pastor at Maranatha Worship Center in Wichita, Kan. He earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (Springfield, Mo.) in 2012. In 1989, Flippo earned an M.A. in Communications from Missouri State University (Springfield, Mo.) after earning his B.S. in Communications at Evangel University (Springfield, Mo.). He also earned an M.A. in Biblical Literature from AGTS in 1987.

Coach Flippo and his wife, Chris, have been married for over 35 years. They have two children, two grandchildren, and currently live in Roseville with their miniature schnauzer.
