North Central University (NCU) announced the addition of Katie DeWitt-Severson as its new Associate Athletic Director for Internal Relations and Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach. DeWitt will make the move after spending time as the General Manager of Hope Fieldhouse. Prior to serving in that role, DeWitt held positions at the University of Northwestern (UNW) and Dordt University.Â
DeWitt is no stranger to the UMAC. After transferring in from Drake University, DeWitt had a stellar playing career for the Eagles. In just three seasons, DeWitt made her mark at Northwestern capped by All-America honors from both the WBCA and DIII News in 2010-11. She was a three-time All-UMAC First Team selection and led the Eagles to a UMAC tournament championship in 2009-10. During that season, DeWitt was named the UMAC Player of the Year. DeWitt is fourth all-time at Northwestern in career points (1,637) and owns the record for career scoring average (20.2 ppg) in 81 games played. In addition, she was named one of five players to the UMAC All-Decade team in 2018.Â
A former Eagle track athlete, DeWitt earned all-conference honors in the 100/400M Hurdles and 4x400M relay. She also qualified for NCCAA Nationals in four events and is part of UNW's school record holding 4x400M relay team.Â
From 2017-2019 she served as an assistant coach for women's basketball at her alma mater. In addition to her coaching duties, she assisted in event management for home contests, intramural athletics and supervised the Eagle Success program for first-year student-athletes. In her full-time role at the university, she was the Student Services and Registration Specialist for the office of Dual Enrollment, which serves PSEO students, assisting in database management and records compliance.Â
Prior to her time at UNW, DeWitt was the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Dordt University (College). DeWitt helped transform the women's basketball program, bringing in two of the largest recruiting classes in the history of the program, including the class that would help Dordt reach the NAIA national tournament for two consecutive seasons and achieve a national ranking as high as 5th in the in their senior campaign. In addition, DeWitt was named to the 2017 WBCA 30 under 30 list, recognizing 30 up and coming coaches in Women's Basketball who demonstrate community service involvement, mentorship, impact on others, professional manner and attitude, professional association involvement. DeWitt was also the assistant sports information director at DU, assisting in game management, recruit press releases and supervision of student workers.Â

DeWitt and her husband Nathaniel have two children.Â
