Paul Theorin is currently in his 5th year as the head track coach for the 2024-2025 season as well as his 3rd season as the men's and women's cross country head coach.
Since taking the reigns of the Track & Field program in 2021, Coach Theorin has taken the program to new heights. Over 5 seasons, he has had 36 total program records broken and 31 student-athletes qualify for the NCCAA National Championships. He has also coached 11 UMAC All-Conference honorees and had a total of 102 UMAC Academic All-Conference awards received. In his three seasons at the helm of the Cross Country program, he has had 3 runners enter the All-Time Top 25 list and a pair of runners earn UMAC All-Conference honors. His team has also accumulated 18 total UMAC Academic All-Conference awards.Â
In his first season as the interim head coach in 2020-2021, Theorin had one woman (Elizabeth Lofstad) finish with All-UMAC honors for the indoor season and two women (Elizabeth Lofstad & Bailey Brewster) finish with All-UMAC honors for the outdoor season. Bailey Brewster was a senior in the 2021-2022 season and the UMAC Conference Championship meet beat the North Central University record for the women's open 800.
In the 2022-2023 season, the Rams broke 24 indoor/outdoor North Central track records. The men's team finished a University's best 4th in the UMAC conference. NCU also qualified 11 student-athletes at the NCCAA National Championships in Columbia, SC. In their appearance, the Rams broke three records at the National Championships.Â
In just three years of recruiting, the team has gone from 9 athletes to 52! The Rams are bringing in a class of 24 athletes for the 2023 class!
Before coaching the Rams, Paul graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh where he obtained his degree in Communication Studies and a certificate in coaching in 2018.
Paul is originally from Merrill, WI and now lives in Minneapolis.
