Torrion Amie enters his first season as an assistant coach for the NCU Track & Field teams. Aime will oversee the men's and women's jumpers throughout the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Coach Amie comes to North Central University with over 25 years of experience as a faculty member, coach, strength trainer, and administrator in higher education and K12. In 2024 he was an adjunct professor at North Central University in the College of Business and Technology (COBAT). Mr. Amie will also be the hurdles and long sprints coach at Apple Valley High School this spring. He’s currently the hurdle coach for The Maximum Impact Track Club in Minneapolis. He’s spent the past 9 seasons at Farmington High School in various capacities overseeing sprints, hurdles, jumps, and relays. From 2014-2019, he was the head coach of “The Blast” Special Olympic Track and Field Team. He’s had the privilege to advise a 2012 London Olympic triple jumper as she pursued qualifying for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games. Aime also enjoyed coaching 14 seasons (1999-2012), at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He provided direction to the men’s and women’s track & field programs in jumps, short sprints, relays, combined-multi events, and as a strength trainer. He was inducted into the UW-River Falls Athletic Hall of Fame in 2021 for coaching. He holds USA Track and Field Levels I & II certifications.
Collegiately, he’s coached an All-Time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, (WIAC) Hall of Fame athlete, a bevy of All-Americans, national qualifiers, and school record holders. Mr. Amie helped guide the UW-River Falls women’s team to a 2008 National Outdoor Championship. He’s coached 4 individual Division III National Champions in high jump, triple jump, and sprints. In the high school realm, his athletes have amassed a multitude of Minneapolis Athena Awards, state titles, and All-State performances. He's also been a presenter at the MN Track and Field Coaches Association Clinic 3 times.
Torrion is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Minnesota Graduate School of Theology. He’s earned a:
- Master of Education degree in kinesiology from the University of Minnesota,
- Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and,
- Associate degree from Normandale Community College.
