Haney joins the Rams after serving as the Sports Information Director at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. As the primary communications contact for the Vikings' 27-sport athletics department, he coordinated media relations, scheduled coverage, collaborated with coaches and administrators, and directed gameday operations for numerous home events. His responsibilities included overseeing live statistics, video board production, photography, website management, social media content, and real-time event coverage while helping elevate the department's digital presence.

During his time at Grand View, Haney covered three national championship postseason runs during the 2025-26 academic year, including men's soccer, football, and men's wrestling. He authored feature stories, game recaps, postseason award releases, and department news while also traveling with multiple teams throughout national tournament competition to provide comprehensive event coverage and live updates. Haney additionally coordinated Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament logistics and postseason roster submissions through NAIA Connect while mentoring student workers in athletic communications and gameday operations. Haney was hired to his full time role after serving as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant for one year. In that role, he produced competition recaps across multiple sports, maintained the department's Sidearm Sports website, managed live statistics through Presto Sports, and created content for Instagram, X, and Facebook to increase fan engagement. 

In addition to his communications experience, Haney was a standout student-athlete for the nationally recognized Grand View wrestling program. He earned NAIA All-American and NAIA Scholar All-American honors in 2024 while helping the Vikings capture the 2024 NAIA National Championship. Throughout his collegiate career, he was recognized as Grand View Wrestling's Freshman of the Year and Most Improved Wrestler, demonstrating the work ethic, leadership, and competitive mindset that continue to shape his professional career. Haney also served as an Admissions Ambassador and contributed as a student writer and storyteller for the university's Viewfinder TV, podcast, and magazine.

Haney has recently relocated to the Minneapolis, MN area.
