Brian Li

Brian Li took the reigns of the NCU men's soccer program just before the 2018 season. Prior to taking over as head coach, Li served on the NCU men's soccer coaching staff during the 2017 season as an assistant coach.

During his first season as head coach of the Rams in 2018, Li led the Rams to a 14-7-2 overall record that ended on seven straight wins to capture NCU’s first ever NCCAA National Championship over Kentucky Christian University. Li was named the 2018 NCCAA Men’s Soccer National Coach of the Year, and has coached six NCAA All Conference, three NCCAA First Team All-Americans, and one NCCAA National Player of the Year.

Prior to NCU, Li began his soccer coaching career in 2010. He has coached with the Eden Prairie and Fusion Soccer Clubs, and also has helped lead individual skills seminars with youth players at various local clubs. From a certification standpoint, Li currently holds a USSF National D Coaching License.

Li is a graduate of the University of Minnesota with an undergraduate degree and MBA in Finance. In addition to coaching, Li also serves in NCU’s Finance & Accounting department in the role of CFO. In his free time, he enjoys playing men’s league soccer, golfing, and playing guitar. He currently lives in Golden Valley with his wife Erica, their baby daughter Peyton, and two senior goldendoodles, Odie and Dooley.

Coach Li is always open to connecting with recruits. If you are interested in playing soccer for NCU, please send him an email - he would love to have a conversation with you!
