Box Score 2 Minneapolis, MN-- The North Central University Volleyball team went on the road to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to compete in the Coe College Triangular on Friday night. The Rams lost in straight sets to Waldorf College and Coe College.
North Central (5-18, 1-6) started off the triangular against Waldorf College (Forest City, Iowa) and lost the match 3-0 (25-10, 25-5, 25-9). The Rams were led by sophomore Whitney Reames (Vassar, Mich./ Vassar) who recorded a team-high four kills and one block assist in the contest. Freshman Elissa Pheneger (Roseville, Minn./ Concordia Academy) led the team with six assists and eight digs. Sophomore Karlee Cox (Des Moines, Iowa/ Saydel) also had a strong defensive effort as she had seven digs against the Warriors (16-15).
The Rams (5-19, 1-6) took on Coe College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) in match two and lost 3-0 (25-8, 25-4, 25-7). Once again North Central was led by Reames, who had a team-high three kills in the match along with a block assist. Pheneger had another strong defensive effort as she recorded eight digs which was tied for the team-high with sophomore Jamie High (Buffalo, Minn./ Buffalo) who also had two kills and a block assist with the Kohawks (26-3).
NCU Volleyball continues action on Friday, October 18th as they host Martin Luther College (New Ulm, Minn.) at 7:00pm in the Clark-Danielson Gymasium in Minneapolis.
