MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - North Central fans were treated to a tough fought match Wednesday night as the Rams played host to Bethany Lutheran College. Although the Rams would ultimately fall to Bethany Lutheran in four sets, it was nonetheless good to see the team remain competitive throughout against a tough Bethany Lutheran team. Freshman
Taylor Tody provided a spark off the bench for the Rams after an extended absence from injury.
Emma Middendorf,
Alice Cato, and Emily DiGiorgio continue to provide a formidable front line as the Rams look like a team on the brink of turning the corner.Â
Match Vitals:
- Emma Middendorf is really starting to hit her stride this season as she provided another solid hitting (.222 hitting percentage) and blocking night (2 blocks).
- Backrow play was significantly improved as the Rams were consistently able to keep points alive on excellent defensive efforts (12 errors in first three sets).
Match Recap:
- Although the Rams would lose the match 1-3, the score doesn't adequately describe the continued improvement of this young Rams squad. The Rams were able to parlay improved play and effort into a big second set win before dropping the remaining two as Bethany Lutheran's frontline hitters were simply too much for the Rams to handle. The continued Achilles heel of the Rams team remains it's inability to finish off points with only a .037 hitting percentage on the night.
