Men's Basketball Falls to the Scots in Home Opener

Game Vitals

  • The Rams fell early and could not get over the hump as the Scots lead for the entirety of the game (39:12).
  • Micah Filer, first freshman basketball player(Men or Women) to score 19+ in their collegiate debut.
  • The Rams actually shot better percentages than the Scots: 46.6 fg%, 46.7 3pt%.
  • Rams fall to 0-1 on the season.

Game Recap

  • North Central found themselves in a defensive battle to start on Thursday night, as neither team could find their touch early. Jack Martin was the early spark, as he had a steal and a layup in the first 10 seconds to get the crowd going. Both teams continued to trade baskets through the first 10 minutes of the first half. The Scots turned their emphasis to getting the ball in the paint, which created some distance between them and the Rams. Although undersized, the Rams hung with the Scots in the rebounding battle only trailing by one in that category in the first half. Senior, Jared High, turned it on late in the first half to score five points in the waning minutes of the first period to keep the Rams close, trailing 35-25. The Scots came out of the break firing as they pushed their lead to 19, their largest of the night. Freshman, Micah Filer, did not shy away from the spotlight in his first collegiate game as he knocked down a few big shots to close the gap back to 12 with just under 10 minutes to go. The Scots kept their foot on the gas as they pushed the lead back to 15 just minutes later, however the Rams would not go away. North Central cut the deficit to single digits with less than a minute left, but the hole was too deep to dig out of as they would fall by a score of 72-64.
