ASHLAND, Wis. -- North Central University (NCU) traveled across the border to do battle with the Lumberjills of Northland College. NCU used a defensive game plan to hold the Jills stymied in the early going, but a second half offensive explosion was enough to push Northland over the hump as they topped the Rams by a score of 4-0.
Game Vitals
- The Lumberjills recorded 26 shots on net
- The Rams finished the contest with 22 saves
Game Recap
The two teams started the contest in a stand still, with neither club finding any success on the scoreboard. The Rams played a very defensive match, working to slow down the Northland attack from the very beginning. The Lumberjills had various scoring opportunities throughout the first 45 minutes, but
Ellie Tieszen showed no sign of blinking as she a brick wall in the goal, sending back shot after shot. After a scoreless first half, the Lumberjills turned up the offensive aggression as they looked to flip the momentum full in their favor. Northland used two goals in the first five minutes of the second half to fuel a fury of second half goals that ended with a 4-0 victory for Northland over the Rams.
