Women's Hoops edged by UW-Superior

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The North Central University (NCU) women's basketball team squared off against the University of Wisconsin Superior (UWS) in their last regular season home game of the year Saturday afternoon. In the final regular season game of the year the UMAC regular season champion UWS took down NCU by a score 69-62.

* UWS outshout NCU from beyond the arch 47.4 percent (9-19) to the NCU 25 percent (7-28).

* UWS lead for 38 of the 40 minutes in the contest.

Game Recap

* The contest began with a drought as both teams struggled to get the offensive side of the ball rolling. With 5 minutes left in the first quarter and UWS leading 4-1 Haleigh Filer hit a clutch 3-pointer to tie the game at 4-4. At the end of the first quarter UWS lead NCU 15 to 11. NCU battled in the second quarter as they began to mount a come back down by a score of 30-15. NCU used a 14-5 run in the last 5 minutes of the quarter to cut the score to 35-29 going into half-time. In the third quarter NCU still worked on their comeback they began in the second, but UWS still lead throughout the third with a score of 48-40. NCU still battled for their comeback in the fourth quarter, but UWS held their ground and lead the Rams ending the game with a score of 69-62.
